Fair Isle knitted hat

The yarn is Nature Spun worsted in Butterfly Blue and a dark purple that was in our stash without a label but suspect it is Paton's Classic. It is very soft, and will be warm due to the doubled hem, and stranded yarn. I don't skate-ski, but will still wear it while classic cross- country skiing.

Rose

Three deer

A doe and twin fawns visited our yard on July 19. Am not sure if one of these fawns have been here before or if they are a different family.

Improved circle of dirt

The pansies are growing, added some cosmos on the left hand side, petunias & impatiens. Also the dahlias are coming up in the front, and 5 cannas. After the wind knocked down a few of the rocks, may take the rest off or get some larger ones for the cairn. There isn't a shortage of rocks around here.

Yellow gazania

Probably should have been weeding instead of playing on the computer.

Pink gazania

Fawn

Very sweet. Not as cute as the 3 baby skunks and mama living under the tool shed, but we won't be getting close enough to take photos of them!

More dianthus

These photos will be nice to look at in February when winter is getting old. The pansies are a plant that survived the winter and are crawling all over, and under the rose bush.

Dianthus

These were not in bloom when the garden 2008 photo was taken. What difference a few weeks makes.

Verbena

Snapdragons

These are the nicest potted flowers we have had in awhile. Add to that a rainy day learning how to use the digital camera properly.

Finished product

These are ready for spinning, very soft and clean. All the lumps, and vegetable matter have been left behind in the combs.

Taking the wool off

Pulling the wool off the combs with a diz. For the sake of the photos, they are out of the wooden holder that keeps them secure while working with them, it clamps to the table.

Combed wool

Here the wool has been combed on the 5 pitch indigo viking combs.

Washed wool

This is a shetland/columbia mix wool that was a gift from Joyce.

Bleeding heart

Was so happy to see these two little flowers this morning, just had to take a photo of them, also. The plant was just put in this spring, and didn't expect to see any flowers this year. Most of the perennials in this bed will have to be moved around eventually, they are too crowded. Fiber arts stuff coming soon....will warp the loom for placemats tomorrow, then start rugs after they're done. Anyone want to come up and warp for me?

Pink columbine

Hey, I thought this was a fiber blog.

Columbine

Don't remember what variety these are, but they are unusual.

Blooming iris

For some reason only two bloomed this year, one a dark purple solid, and the two-toned one. With all the plants, maybe next year they will give an impressive show.

This scarf is made from Mandala yarn in Parrot. The color changes are too long,am not real happy with the large patches of colors. The y...
